Explore the history of St John’s Church with our Interactive Heritage Hub

Discover the history of St. John’s like never before! As part of our National Lottery Heritage Funded heritage project, we’ve created engaging digital resources to make the church’s history accessible to all:

An Audio Guided Tour
We have created a fascinating audio guided tour, to guide visitors round the church pointing out noteworthy features and revealing the hidden history of St John’s Church. You can access the audio guided tour by clicking the link above, or by (scaning the QR code in the church entrance with your smart phone).

An Interactive 3D Virtual Tour
We created a 3D virtual tour of St John’s Church, with interactive ‘hot spots’ that when clicked display more detailed information on the notable areas of the church.

Oral histories from Local Voices sharing their connection to the church.
We recorded a series of oral histories from ‘local voices’ explaining the heritage, history and features of St John the Baptist’s Church and how it has been connected to the lives of the people of Hatherleigh through the years.

Searchable Online Graveyard Database
Supported by our project partners Hatherleigh History Society we have created an online searchable graveyard database.

Heritage Archives
We’ve also created a heritage archive to pull together a treasure trove of other information such as records of the 1990 storm damage which brought the tower spire down through the main roof, and the subsequent restoration work.

Dive into these resources and experience the history of St. John’s in new and exciting ways.
